The Intercessor

We were four women, standing together in a lovely living room. I had belted out a song of praise that bubbled up from my belly. We were drawn before the throne of God. I hope it translates to you on the page, but I saw the goodness of God pass before me. His majesty, His justice, goodness and mercy. It was an unending mercy. Then revelation struck. It is because He is love He always raised up prophets to remind Him and plead with Him to act within His character.

He called out a man or woman to come to know Him, as His friend.

That friend, because of such intimacy with Him, was shown God’s heart of mercy and was given the job of acting out His heart to His people.

I have not often considered Habakkuk as God’s friend.

He knew God’s heart of mercy.

In fact, he reminds me of Job. Look at vs

He knew that when justice demanded punishment, mercy demanded compassion.

He knew God’s heart.

Not unlike Job.

Look at verse 2 in the verses quoted on the featured image.

“Lord, I have heard of your fame. I stand in awe of your deeds”.

Compare that with Job 42: 5

“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; But now my eye sees You;

6 Therefore I retract, And I repent in dust and ashes.”

Both speak of an awesome God in front of whom none can stand.

Both saw that they could still make their case for mercy.

It is implied that they knew that God desired to give it.

The fact that they even asked  reveals this understanding.

This is our task as intercessors as prophets.

To know and act out God’s heart to the world.
